Proper Use of the Skedco Oregon Spine Splint (OSS)
July 24, 2014 4:27 amI often get the question, “Can you use our Oregon Spine Splint (OSS) instead of a long board in combination with The Sked Stretcher?” The answer is Yes! The OSS is the only short vest-type immobilizer on the market that meets all the criteria for immobilizing a seated patient. When using The OSS in combination with The Sked Stretcher, the legs should be in a straight, in-line position with the torso. If you pad along side the legs it will keep them in line with the torso and provide extra support making it equal to a long board application. The difference is you can perform dragging and hoisting by rope or helicopter with the Sked/OSS combination.
